China's service robot market has begun to grow rapidly, according to an interpretation released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on May 31. The annual sales revenue of service robots is expected to exceed 30 billion yuan by 2020. According to the Robot Industry Development Plan (2016-2020), in the next five years, to meet the national strategic needs and major issues of people's livelihood, the application and demonstration of service robots in the fields of helping the elderly and disabled, medical rehabilitation, disaster relief and rescue, and public services will be promoted. At present, the statistical system of service robots in China has not been completely established. Song Xiaogang introduced that in 2014, the value of the global industrial robot is about 10.7 billion dollars, and the value of the global service robot is about 6 billion dollars. The proportion of China's industrial robot and service robot is roughly equal to the global level. By 2020, the annual output of China's own-brand industrial robots will reach 100,000 units, and the annual sales revenue of service robots is expected to exceed 30 billion yuan, the plan said.
